Meet Rachel Maosi. Rachel was one of FIVE women who applied for the scholarship last Spring. That was the most female applicants we have seen in one year … ever!? That is a great sign for things to come for women working in our industry. They were all very impressive candidates and the challenge is always, just picking ONE individual.
Rachel is seen below in a photo taken while she was working at Tongue Point in Astoria, Oregon. She was doing an incredible job in their Maritime Program and truly enjoying the work and content. it seemed to her a natural fit to continue her education and go forward in the industry at Cal Maritime. While in Astoria, she was working as a deckhand aboard the Columbia River Bar Pilots pilot boats.
